911 Museum NYC

My annual dedication to honoring the victims from 911, included a visit to the 911 Museum, located on the actual site of where the twin towers once resided. It was a humbling experience to walk the foot print of these buildings, viewing the remains of the steel footings that have been preserved, and see bent pieces of steel and structural pieces.

Dream Home & Hunter Douglas

I had the pleasure of attending a special viewing of this beautiful showhouse located at The Residences at The Ritz-Carlton, Westchester. A 5400 sq ft penthouse had been fully decorated with merchandise from area businesses. Breathtaking views of the City to the Sound are seen from the floor to ceiling windows on the 19th floor.

A great time was had listening to music at the Clearwater Festival held at Croton Point Park on the Hudson River late June. An estimated 25,000 people attended this fundraiser originally founded by the late legendary musician Pete Seeger to clean up the Hudson River and gain awareness.

Hidden Treasures in Aspen

If I was a designer in the 1960’s I like to think I could have designed a house as creative as this! My family and I stayed in this beautiful log house located in the woods in Aspen, Colorado last week. It was originally designed by Herb & Marcy Balderson many years ago. Herb, who passed away a few years ago, was a master wood worker. His artwork in the form of carved bowls, statues and iron work, graces the walls of this home and the scenic outdoors.

The common element throughout is good design. There’s always a reason why an element is chosen for a certain place, whether it’s a colorful painting in a room or a specific fabric on a chair. There’s also a functionality to every item that is unique to each project’s solution. It’s sort of like an oversized jigsaw puzzle with a place and reason for each piece.
