When asked to redesign the Community Room at Temple Israel in Croton on Hudson, I quickly said yes! Having lived and worked in the area for over 16 years I wanted to give back to the community by giving them something beautiful to enjoy. The Temple has about 350 families in Westchester as members that will all enjoy this new multi-use space.

The original room was wall to wall wood paneling and old window treatments stuck in the 60’s. There were several unused closets and sagging bookshelves on almost every wall. After careful planning and approvals from the Temple board of directors, we designed a beautiful room plan. (See 3D Digital Video below) The space will now be used for educational movies with the new projection system, social gatherings such as religious discussions and book clubs, to social coffee/food gatherings with the aid of a new Galley Kitchen.

The furniture was specified to easily be moved around the room as needed since each item is lightweight, and the rounded chairs have casters. The kitchen cabinetry was designed to work with the beauty of the wood grain seen in the wall at the end of the room, yet not visually compete. The kitchen cabinetry was imported from Portugal and its finish is actually man-made to look like wood, and is very durable.

The color palette and textures were chosen for their timeless style and to seamlessly transition with the decor in other parts of the beautiful Temple structure.
