The Grateful Home on the Lake

Turning a house into a home with gratitude is a joy from beginning to the end. Our Greenwood Lake home renovation was exactly that. Our incredible clients were true partners—collaborative, communicative, and always open to making thoughtful decisions together. We had such a great time working alongside them.

Our Dream Team

Our team was my DW Design & Decor firm, our architect, and the general contractor. With mutual respect and shared expertise, we worked seamlessly, with the singular goal of bringing our clients’ vision to life. Weekly site meetings were not just productive but enjoyable, thanks to the great communication, patience, and appreciation all around.

Building with the View In Mind

This renovation has a stunning view of Greenwood Lake in New York state. The ability to update the windows, open up the space and provide the client’s kitchen of their dreams was a pleasure. You truly experience the outdoors, even when you’re inside with water views from almost every room in the house.

An Overview of What We Did

To realize the client’s vision, we had to create a solution that looked amazing, and could successfully be accomplished from a build perspective. First, we started by reconfiguring the first floor.

We took space from the primary bedroom and created a closet and shower for the existing primary bathroom. Next, a bedroom window was replaced with a high awning window which comfortably allowed for the headboards to be placed against the wall with trees and greenery above. And then, the final touch – beautiful, floral wallpaper in subtle blues and greens. Continuing with the reconfiguring, on the first floor, the laundry room was moved, a window wall was closed off, and the roofline was adjusted to create a much larger kitchen (See In Process Photos). A fun surprise for the client was bringing them to the custom cabinetry facility to see their cabinets actually being made. They loved it!

Our Celebration Dinner

To celebrate the success of the project, our clients invited us, along with our spouses, to their beautiful house for a home-cooked meal. It was an evening filled with laughter, great food, and admiration for the space we created together. And, as if the universe was celebrating with us, a breathtaking double rainbow appeared that night.

Professional photos are coming to see the final reveal.

The common element throughout is good design. There’s always a reason why an element is chosen for a certain place, whether it’s a colorful painting in a room or a specific fabric on a chair. There’s also a functionality to every item that is unique to each project’s solution. It’s sort of like an oversized jigsaw puzzle with a place and reason for each piece.

“Your rooms are like a painting. Each component is a brushstroke to create the whole picture. It’s magic every time!”
