I have had the pleasure of helping two different clients plan new chapters in their lives. Having each lived in their respective homes for 40-50 years, making the decision to move to a new location was a big one. After visiting the existing home, we catalogued each piece of furniture by taking photos and the dimensions. Then we created new digital floor plans of the new space, and showed the new placement of each piece of furniture. This way, when the actual move takes place, the clients will simply hold the layouts in their hand, and tell the moving company where everything goes. It takes the pressure off of moving day, and makes sure that only the pieces that the clients want will come along for the ride!

Our first client lived in her home for 50 years, and will be moving into a brand new condo currently under construction. In this instance, the new space will be about the same size so we were able to utilize most of the pieces that she wanted to take with her. We were then able to make a list of additional furniture and accessory items that will need to be purchased, such as new guest room pieces, and a new area rug for the living room.

Our next couple lived in their home for almost 40 years. They decided that a smaller space would be more convenient so we went through their furnishings and chose our favorite pieces to repurpose. Since this condo was pre-owned, we will also redesign the two story fireplace wall that includes 3 windows. Adding stonework, cabinetry and a large flat screen TV will make a beautiful focal point in the open concept great room. New carpeting for stairs and loft, and new paint throughout will make everything seem brand new!

Everyone will be all moved in, in the Spring. We will then help with the finishing touches and begin construction on the Fireplace feature wall. We are so thrilled to have been able to make these transitions easier and less stressful for our clients, utilizing good planning, great listening, and lots of creativity!

The common element throughout is good design. There’s always a reason why an element is chosen for a certain place, whether it’s a colorful painting in a room or a specific fabric on a chair. There’s also a functionality to every item that is unique to each project’s solution. It’s sort of like an oversized jigsaw puzzle with a place and reason for each piece.

“Your rooms are like a painting. Each component is a brushstroke to create the whole picture. It’s magic every time!”
