Meet Leigh Fludd-Smith, the creative force behind Bittersweet Lane. With a childhood spent tinkering in her father’s workshop, Leigh’s passion for restoring and creating furniture was sparked at a young age. After 15 years as an interior design consultant, she embraced change during the pandemic, turning her hobby into a thriving business. Specializing in everything from antique restoration to modern restyling, Leigh’s craftsmanship shines through each project. In 2022, she co-founded Orchid & Elm, a boutique supporting local women artists and entrepreneurs, where her passion for furniture refinishing continues to flourish.

The common element throughout is good design. There’s always a reason why an element is chosen for a certain place, whether it’s a colorful painting in a room or a specific fabric on a chair. There’s also a functionality to every item that is unique to each project’s solution. It’s sort of like an oversized jigsaw puzzle with a place and reason for each piece.
