The Fall Market week in High Point, North Carolina (10/19/13-10/24/13) was AWESOME! Lots of people, manufacturers and socializing! It is always an inspiring trip and allows us to bring you specific insights into what you should look out for that is trending next year.

“I have both used DW Design and recommended her. She has a thorough knowledge of the latest and best materials and products to bring to the project. Her designs were fresh and beautiful. She is caring and totally professional…”

A few months ago, I had a wonderful opportunity to meet with some top designers from around the country, to discuss the business of design. The 3 day retreat was located in beautiful sunny Tucson Arizona.

Treat yourself to the Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze at Van Cortlandt Manor, or one of the many local Fall Festivals like the Warwick Applefest. Just get outside with friends & family and have some Fall Fun!

“Denise has helped me with many projects over the years from window treatments in both the living and dining rooms, a redo of my basement recreation area, color selection for my daughter’s bedroom, to the design of my new kitchen addition. All the projects have been very different and each with it’s own set of issues…”

I had the pleasure of watching the Tony Award winning play Kinky Boots on Broadway and going backstage. I even met the star Billy Porter! (aka LOLA)

We love the hot weather and palm trees. What better place to enjoy both but to visit Florida in the summer!

Joella Cannon is a Jewelry Designer and principal of J.A. Minai Jewelry Design located in Westchester, NY. Her passion is to “create statement pieces that are inspired by the elements of surprise and juxtaposition.”

“I had the most extraordinary experience with DW Design & Decor this past April! I needed to redesign my existing living room/dining room space to accommodate my daughter’s bridal shower…”

“Denise is responsive and attentive and a great designer. She managed all the details of our living room remodel. It turned out great and we would definitely use her again and recommend her to a friend.”

A Fun Family Space with a little inspiration from a 13-year old…

One special place that we like to visit is the Walking Dunes, in Napeague, Montauk, NY. They are named this not because you are allowed to walk on them, but because the wind and natural elements change the configuration of the dunes constantly.

“Denise did a wonderful job with our blank-slate basement. She worked with the contractor to develop the design of the space which included a playroom, bathroom, media room, kitchenette/bar area, gym and storage…”
The common element throughout is good design. There’s always a reason why an element is chosen for a certain place, whether it’s a colorful painting in a room or a specific fabric on a chair. There’s also a functionality to every item that is unique to each project’s solution. It’s sort of like an oversized jigsaw puzzle with a place and reason for each piece.
“Your rooms are like a painting. Each component is a brushstroke to create the whole picture. It’s magic every time!”
