Our clients wanted to comfortably sit 18 at the dinner table since they love to entertain. We decided that having a table custom made would be the best way to give them exactly what they wanted in terms of design details and size requirements.

I had just the furniture maker to do the job. Paul Stover of Highland Woodworks is a master craftsman and has created furniture for many famous residents of Aspen Colorado, as his shop is located nearby. Paul had built the most amazing double front door for one of my projects several years ago, from inspiration photos and a sketch. I knew that the creation of this custom 13 1/2′ table would be in good hands!

The first step was to determine size needed, space required for each of the 18 people to sit comfortably, and the base design. All was represented in detailed shop drawings, until we finalized every detail. Paul then located beautiful walnut wood veneers to create the top surface of the tables, and there are no continuous solid slabs of wood as large as we had needed.

The table is still in production. We anticipate our clients having their Thanksgiving dinner on this beautiful dining table, making new family memories together!

The common element throughout is good design. There’s always a reason why an element is chosen for a certain place, whether it’s a colorful painting in a room or a specific fabric on a chair. There’s also a functionality to every item that is unique to each project’s solution. It’s sort of like an oversized jigsaw puzzle with a place and reason for each piece.

“Your rooms are like a painting. Each component is a brushstroke to create the whole picture. It’s magic every time!”
