In the South African Sotho language, DIRA (pronounced Deer’-ah) means “to create”.

DIRA was formed to give talented, local, highly skilled artisans, global marketplace opportunities to inspire their success and growth. These beautiful handcrafted products reflect the design culture of these individual artists while instilling hope for the future.

Building hope is the founding principle of DIRA, believing that the opportunity to create and prosper is at the core of building hope in the hearts of individuals and communities.

The items offered range from beautiful woven baskets of all shapes and colors, to lamps created with horn product. Bean Bag chairs made from upcycled material are created in vibrant patterns. The common element throughout is good design. There’s always a reason why an element is chosen for a certain place, whether it’s a colorful painting in a room or a specific fabric on a chair.
