A renovation is never easy, regardless of the size. As an interior design and build firm, each project comes with its own challenges that require creative thinking. This primary bath was no exception. However, being chosen as a winner in Hudson Valley magazine’s first annual Home Design Awards made it even more gratifying. Take a look at how we did it and get some inspiration to start your own whole house or multi-room renovation.
The intention for this project was to transform a dark, outdated primary bathroom into a spacious, light-filled retreat. The homeowners wanted a place to start and end the day with ease and tranquility. An important must-have feature: a larger shower area and freestanding tub, perfect for a long soak. This was achieved by strategically angling it in the corner to maximize space and functionality.
Creating a Serene Feel
The design firm chose the color palette of black, white and gray, which creates a sophisticated, yet timeless foundation for the space. Key design elements include a custom vanity with ample hidden storage and tailored top-down/bottom-up fabric shades, providing both privacy and a view of the outdoors. To soften the monochromatic tones, we incorporated subtle hues through the window treatments and carefully curated artwork, adding warmth and personality.
In addition to the bathroom update, we added a cathedral ceiling and new hard wood floors as part of the primary bedroom renovation. View our portfolio to take a look at the completed solution! (photos by Kyle J. Caldwell)
