High Point 2021, back in person!

After two long years is was extra special to attend this years Fall High Point Market in North Carolina, in person!

What a treat to walk showroom to showroom, looking at the beautiful furniture and accessories to get ideas and fulfill my client project solutions. Despite the ongoing issues with supply, demand and delivery lead times, many manufacturers offered quick ship options and have some stock pieces in inventory.

It was obvious that color was reserved for accessories like pillows and rugs, and in artwork and faux plants. Black, white and grey were the dominant color combinations for living spaces as you can see in the photos below. Gold was paired nicely with this color combo, both in lighting and in accessories like the white, black and gold vase pictured, and the bejeweled napkin rings. I noticed more curving shapes in the furniture, in indoor upholstery and in outdoor as well.

Outdoor spaces were a focal point with beautiful options for outdoor living, as we all have been spending much more time outside. Great shapes, performance fabrics and indoor/outdoor materials were all displayed. The use of rattan, for both outside and many indoor furnishing was prevalent.

Home office desks and chairs were also front and center! From standings desks to all different styles imaginable, there were options for anyone who is now working a hybrid work schedule or solely from home. Which style is YOUR favorite?

In between looking at all of the dazzling options I had a chance to reconnect with my industry colleagues. After two years of planning, we were able to hold the WOW awards through the organization WithIt.org. It was a fantastic event celebrating the accomplishments of some very talented and successful woman in the Home Furnishing industry. There were also lovely dinners filled with laughter since we all had a lot of catching up to do!

Next trade show I will be attending is KBIS (the national Kitchen and Bath show) in Florida in February. Stay tuned!

The common element throughout is good design. There’s always a reason why an element is chosen for a certain place, whether it’s a colorful painting in a room or a specific fabric on a chair. There’s also a functionality to every item that is unique to each project’s solution. It’s sort of like an oversized jigsaw puzzle with a place and reason for each piece.

“Your rooms are like a painting. Each component is a brushstroke to create the whole picture. It’s magic every time!”
