I joined my son’s class on a recent trip to the Historical Philipsburg Manor, as part of his studies on Colonial times. The tour and activity center teaches about the thriving farming, milling and trading center owned by the Philips family in the 18th century. I found it fascinating to see how the family lived, and the differences in the furnishings and conveniences compared to what we often take for granted, today. My favorite activity was in the Dutch Barn where we helped to thresh some wheat as they did many years ago.
