Clients often ask us how they can be more environmentally friendly in their renovation projects. Some people just want a very unique type of wood for their custom cabinetry. This is when we suggest using Reclaimed Wood.

A leader in the industry is a company called Pioneer Millworks located in upstate NY. “We love all trees, but there’s nothing like the character of antique wood. Old growth trees cut over a hundred years ago offer superior stability, rich patinas, intense grain, and if we’re lucky signs of its previous life including ferrous staining, bolt holes and insect tracks. By recycling wood we reduce our dependence on fresh sawn wood and prevent the filling of landfills. In some cases, it’s only through salvaging old wood that we have species like Chestnut and Elm which were both wiped out by blights in the early parts of the 20th C.”

If you want to do something nice for Mother Nature, and want a truly unique look for your project, let us know and we will create an outstanding design just for you, from something old to make something new!

The common element throughout is good design. There’s always a reason why an element is chosen for a certain place, whether it’s a colorful painting in a room or a specific fabric on a chair. There’s also a functionality to every item that is unique to each project’s solution. It’s sort of like an oversized jigsaw puzzle with a place and reason for each piece.

“Your rooms are like a painting. Each component is a brushstroke to create the whole picture. It’s magic every time!”
