Visiting The Cloisters in NYC is like taking a day trip to Europe.
The Cloisters is a branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, devoted to the art and architecture of medieval Europe. The Cloisters with its neo-medieval architecture, was opened to the public in 1938. It was built from a generous gift by John D. Rockefeller Jr. to encompass medieval work of art from and throughout Europe.
