Kips Bay Showhouse 2016

The Kips Bay Showhouse is always a visual treat! It is like a runway fashion show…over the top and filled with color and excitement!

The Showhouse this Spring was located in a beautiful brownstone on the upper East side of NYC, complete with balconies, lots of outdoor space and great city views. All proceeds go to the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club.

Lighting, Detail and Layering were evident in the room designs. Several spaces had three large round crystal chandeliers in a row for a great visual effect. Beautiful details included painted window and ceiling trim in the same violet color as the fabrics in a quiet master bedroom. One room cleverly saved the labor of installing wood trim by painting all the walls in chalk paint and drawing them in for a great effect! A beautiful kitchen solution included hand wood inlayed ‘marquetry’ panels and hand forged drawer pulls. Many rooms were layered with unique wallpapers, artwork, and accessories.

Always an inspiring visit!

The common element throughout is good design. There’s always a reason why an element is chosen for a certain place, whether it’s a colorful painting in a room or a specific fabric on a chair. There’s also a functionality to every item that is unique to each project’s solution. It’s sort of like an oversized jigsaw puzzle with a place and reason for each piece.

“Your rooms are like a painting. Each component is a brushstroke to create the whole picture. It’s magic every time!”
