‘Living our Most Expressive Self’ was the common theme at this Spring’s High Point Market 2019.
Our HOME is our canvas to reflect our true selves. Upbeat, playful expression….So how do YOU do YOU?
Lots of COLOR could be seen in various art and textiles in all showrooms. And every color of VELVET imaginable! The idea of Maximalism (more is more!) and utilizing the Outdoor space to be as usable as possible to increase our living area. The outdoor space should also be as comfortable as the indoor space in your home.
The colors Blue & Green were evident in wall color, wall decor and accessories. All different hues of Blue and beautiful eco-friendly Green. This color combo is also inspired by water…where the water meets the land…Water colors in textile design support this idea. Mix them easily with some of the beautiful floral patterns available and tropical motifs in wallpaper and wall art!
We LOVED the oversized lighting available in all different metals and natural materials that played with the shadows and scale. It was beautifully displayed and staged at the Universal Furniture showroom. They have furniture styles available for any size space and taste.
We learned the fine art of marbling from Jill Seale who designs fabric, rugs and wallpaper using this beautiful historic technique. Red Egg design studio inspired us with their customizable, hand crafted, Asian influenced furniture, available in LOTS of colors.
And I had the pleasure to be on a panel discussion about performance fabrics and materials in our spaces at the Norwalk Furniture showroom. We shared information and learned from each other as well.
We spent our last day visiting the new building where Caracole furniture has its amazing showroom complete with rooftop space reachable by circular staircase, wrought iron railings and a beautiful dome.

The common element throughout is good design. There’s always a reason why an element is chosen for a certain place, whether it’s a colorful painting in a room or a specific fabric on a chair. There’s also a functionality to every item that is unique to each project’s solution. It’s sort of like an oversized jigsaw puzzle with a place and reason for each piece.

“Your rooms are like a painting. Each component is a brushstroke to create the whole picture. It’s magic every time!”
