September was an exciting month for Textile & Fashion in NYC. As models were showing off the latest fashions on the runways, Textile Studios were open to interested members of the Trade to educate, inspire, and present specialty designs.

We were given a very special presentation at the Pollack Studios in NYC. Several new lines had been in the works for many months and we were given a sneak preview! Their Designers explained how they get their inspiration for new designs from everyday objects or manipulating shapes on the computer. We viewed one of the new embroidered fabrics interpreted from an artists large artwork created in colored pens.

Studio Four NYC highlighted custom woven fabrics hand made on a digital loom. It was fascinating to see the artwork scanned into the computer and how the artist used this special loom to create one of a kind masterpieces. They also showcased beautiful printed textiles in many different colors and patterns as well in their showroom.

The common element throughout is good design. There’s always a reason why an element is chosen for a certain place, whether it’s a colorful painting in a room or a specific fabric on a chair. There’s also a functionality to every item that is unique to each project’s solution. It’s sort of like an oversized jigsaw puzzle with a place and reason for each piece.

“Your rooms are like a painting. Each component is a brushstroke to create the whole picture. It’s magic every time!”
