The Ultimate Basement Makeover

What to do when you have three grown up kids and a Mom who still want to entertain and have fun? Create the ULTIMATE Multi-purpose Basement!

The lower level of this family house became more of a catch-all for storage rather than usable living space. We talked to each family member and found out what their dream space could look like and incorporated all of those ideas in this remodel. The result included a kitchen for light entertaining, a bar height seating area overlooking the pool table, full bathroom, additional storage closets, and comfortable seating area for lounging and watching TV.

Unique tiles and a ‘spicy’ color palette were chosen to keep the atmosphere bright and youthful. Beautiful textiles from Greenhouse Fabrics ranged from high durability performance fabrics for the seat cushions to faux leather for a sleeper ottoman to friendly stripes for window treatments.

The Mom is getting back to her love of creating stained glass so we incorporated a full sized sink in the kitchen for her crafting and maintained a studio for her in the back room as well.

The whole family will enjoy this multi-purposed space once completed. Stay tuned as this makeover continues to progress!

The common element throughout is good design. There’s always a reason why an element is chosen for a certain place, whether it’s a colorful painting in a room or a specific fabric on a chair. There’s also a functionality to every item that is unique to each project’s solution. It’s sort of like an oversized jigsaw puzzle with a place and reason for each piece.

“Your rooms are like a painting. Each component is a brushstroke to create the whole picture. It’s magic every time!”
